Optimism. Making the future better. Believing that it can be better. Taking responsibility to make it so. These are all things that I had the pleasure of discussing at my recent visit to CCTA’s office. I came to visit Rudy Navarrete because I recently made a change. A change that resulted from optimism, a belief that the future can be better and an acknowledgement that I have to take responsibility for making it so. As of May 1, 2015, my law practice is now known as Carno Law Group. I wanted to tell Rudy in person, plus I wanted to see how the new office looked. So I drove out to see him at the new office. They both looked absolutely marvelous!! (Yes, he did pay me to say that. Well, kinda sort of. He paid for lunch that day.)
What I thought was going to be an hour visit turned out to be a three hour non-stop conversation. I was so happy to see and hear the plans Lee, Rudy, Joe, Jesse and everyone else are putting into place all for the benefit of our members. I have always been proud to be a member of CCTA, but after what I saw and heard I am even more appreciative of the hard work each of them put into making the future better for our membership.
Having a strategy to make the future better has always been my philosophy and the reason I chose to create Carno Law Group. I have been representing individuals and entities in the construction industry for over 25 years. (Yes, I started at age 3.) My former law practice, Carno & Carlton, LLP, was doing very well and when planning for its future, I knew I didn’t want to go into any area that would take me outside of construction law. I want to build on the experience I have had the pleasure and, in certain instances, the displeasure of garnering. Both were a learning experience.
The focus of my practice will continue to be assisting those in the construction industry to grow and prosper. I want our members to understand their legal rights and when needed, represent them to protect their interests. Carno Law Group is a construction litigation firm. I will continue to provide legal expertise regarding collection issues, payment disputes, indemnity matters, general business litigation and WBE/MBE/SBE certifications. To that end, though I have always been a participant in the CCTA, I have committed to working even more closely with CCTA to achieve those goals.
I think we all need to be mindful of making our futures better. After all, we are going to spend the rest of our lives there.
