During the last Board Meeting in Concord, CA, November 13, 2015 WSTA staff requested our legal counsel to provide clarifications regarding Retired Dues. This request was submitted and discussed at our Summer Board meeting in June 2015, however, in error; the procedural process was not included in the June 2015 minutes. This is the official clarifying language:
- Question: Once the member requests retired dues status and the Membership Services Director has verified they are retired, can we begin to bill them the Retired Dues before they are voted as a Retired member at a WSTA board meeting?
- Official Policy: Once a member applies for retired dues and the Membership Services Director verifies the member is retired, WSTA accounting staff can then change the member’s status to retired dues billing. At the following WSTA Board meeting, the Board members then vote to approve the Retired members. If a member is not approved for the Retired Dues, then the staff will back bill the member for the regular monthly dues.
