When the Butte Fire erupted on September 9th, it didn’t take long for it to spread throughout Calaveras County, quickly surrounding the ranching community of Mountain Ranch. So far, over 71,000 acres, 545 homes and 356 outbuildings were lost to just this fire.
With firefighters spread thin due to the numerous fires raging in California, it was apparent that without immediate action by local ranchers and homeowners, their homes and ranches would soon be destroyed. Read more
